3 Things Stopping You From Having More Success with Your Social Media

As a business owner, it’s important to have some kind of presence on social media. But when you’re busy running your business, social media management can easily get pushed to the very bottom of the priority list.
The thing is, social media can be a really helpful marketing tool when it’s used with intention.
As a social media manager based in Winnipeg, MB, I wanted to share three things that might be stopping you from having more success with your social media.
1. Inconsistency
I get it. Coming up with original content on a consistent basis can be difficult.
But sharing regular, helpful content is one of the best ways to keep your audience engaged and remind people what you do, who you help, and how they can work with you.
One tip I recommend when you’re drawing a blank, but know you need to post, is to scroll back through your feed from three months ago or more. Find a post that did well, whether it received strong engagement, likes, saves, shares, or comments, and repurpose it.
Update the caption, create a new graphic or image, and share it again.
Chances are, you have new followers who never saw it the first time, and even the people who did may need the reminder.
2. Worrying Too Much About Your Number of Followers
I know the number of followers at the top of your Instagram page can feel like the measure of success, but the truth is, follower count is not everything.
What matters more is reaching the right people: people who are genuinely interested in what you offer.
Those are the people who are more likely to like, comment, engage with your posts, inquire about your services, or buy your products.
It’s not necessarily helpful to have thousands of followers if your posts are only reaching a small portion of them or if those followers are not aligned with your business.
A smaller, engaged audience is often much more valuable than a large audience that never interacts with your content.
3. Trying to Do Everything Yourself
Think about how much time it takes to come up with content ideas, write captions, create graphics, schedule posts, engage with your audience, and review what’s working.
Now think about doing that consistently across every platform where your business has a presence.
It adds up quickly.
When social media is an important part of your marketing strategy, it needs time, attention, and consistency. But as a business owner, you may not always have the capacity to manage it well on top of everything else you’re already doing.
That’s where outsourcing can be so helpful.
Working with a social media manager can help you stay consistent, create more intentional content, and free up your time so you can focus on other areas of your business.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking to have more success with your social media marketing strategy, start by looking at where you might be getting stuck.
Are you posting inconsistently?
Are you focusing too much on follower count?
Are you trying to manage everything yourself?
You don’t have to do it all alone.
